MAKING WAVES 2014: From the City to the Sea

Los Angeles Waterkeeper will celebrate their Making Waves 2014 Event at the Fairmont Miramar Hotel in Santa Monica on June 19.

Over 10 years ago, LA Waterkeeper sued the City of LA for sewage spills that contaminated our beaches and waterways.

The Collection System Settlement Agreement (CSSA) developed through the case required the City to take drastic measures to clean up their system and eliminate pollution, resulting in the City's 82% reduction in sewage spill overflows since the baseline year.

This year's Making Waves event will celebrate the Collection System Settlement Agreement (CSSA) and LA Waterkeeper's and the City of Los Angeles's decade long joint effort to protect our beaches, bays and local waterways.

The event Honorees are the City of Los Angeles, LA Sanitation's Adel Hagekhalil and Enrique Zaldivar and their employees. The event will also recognize Jennifer Boysen, Sam George and Anne Litt.

Emceed by KCRW's Anne Litt, the event will also feature cocktails, a silent auction, and live music to benefit LA Waterkeeper's mission.
