A 24-year-old Los Angeles man was charged today with attempting to slip a drug into a woman's drink that was thwarted by three good Samaritans, the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office said. The three women, Marla Saltzer, Sonia Ulrich and Monica Kenyon, who call themselves "Charlie's Angels" in a Facebook post that went viral, saw Hsu pour a black vial into a woman's drink while she was in the ladies' room at the Fairmont Hotel in Santa Monica.

Deputy District Attorney Oksana Sigal said Michael Roe Chien Hsu (dob 08/09/91) appeared for arraignment Tuesday afternoon, in Department W30 of Los Angeles County Superior Court, Airport Branch. He pled not guilty, to one felony count each of administering a drug and assault with intent to commit a sex crime, in case SA093035.

On May 26, Hsu allegedly placed a drug into a woman's drink while the two dined at a Santa Monica restaurant. Three women at an adjacent table say they saw his action, alerted Hsu's date, and called Santa Monica Police, the prosecutor said.

Hsu's recommended bail is $1 million. If convicted as charged, Hsu faces a maximum sentence of six years in state prison.

Three brave ladies prevented a potential rape at Santa Monica's The Fig Restaurant resulting in an arrest that has made headlines worldwide.

The man accused of an attempted date rape has been identified.

Michael Hsu was arrested last Thursday after a group of three friends said they noticed him spike the drink of his date at The Fig a Santa Monica, California restaurant.

The 24-year-old was taken into custody at the restaurant and booked on charges of drugging with intent to commit a felony.

As of Tuesday morning, he was still being held at the Santa Monica Police Department Jail on $1million bail. He is also due in court later Tuesday for a hearing.

The three women who claim to have busted Hsu on Thursday recounted their tale on Facebook the day after the incident, creating a meme that has been shared more than 110,000 times.

The picture shows the three women in a Charlie's Angels stance with the line 'Don't roofie someone on our watch'.

Sonia Ulrich, Marla Saltzer and Monica Kenyon were out for dinner at FIG restaurant when they say they noticed the man pour something into his companion's drink as they shared a bottle of wine.

In their Facebook post titled 'GUESS WHO STOPPED A RAPE LAST NIGHT?!

Sonia approached Hsu's unsuspecting dinner companion and told her what she had witnessed after following her to the bathroom.

The woman told Sonia she had known Hsu for a year and a half and that they worked together.

When the two walked back to their tables Marla was speaking with a server to get a manager involved.

A manager at Fig then approached the table and the woman ordered a sparkling water from him.

The manager told the three women because he had not witnessed anything himself he was unable to do anything.

Sonia wrote on Facebook: 'The poor woman had to sit through 40 more minutes, sitting across from "one of her best friends" knowing that he was trying to drug her.

Eventually after the security footage was viewed the police were called and scumbag Hsu was escorted out of the restaurant.

Thanks to these three alert concerned diners, a rape was certainly prevented.
