Southwest Airlines flight forced to evacuate on the ground

A smoking samsung Galaxy Note phone forced the evacuation of a Southwest Airlines flight on the ground Wednesday in Louisville, KY. Southwest Airlines flight 994 from Louisville to Baltimore was evacuated this morning while still at the gate because of a smoking Samsung Galaxy Note 7 smartphone. All passengers and crew exited the plane via the main cabin door and no injuries were reported, a Southwest Airlines spokesperson told the AP

"I shut down the phone," the man who owned the phone told reporters once off the flight. "I placed it in my pocket, I heard a pop, and there was smoke all over my pocket. It was a Galaxy Note 7 Replacement," send the owner, even sending news sources a photo of the box proving it was a replacement phone

Do not use Samsung phones in flight, nor place them in baggage

Samsung said we re working with authorities to confirm the cause. Once we have more evidence, we will get back to you on it," said Samsung in a statement.

CNBC reports their washing machines are also subject to exploding.
