Hillary Clinton Campaign to Join Voting Recounts in Wisconsin, Michigan and Pennsylvania

Clinton convinced by computer scientists and election lawyers to join a recount in three swing states won by Donald Trump

Michigan computer scientists believe they have found a way to reverse the US Presidential Election results, and elect Hillary Clinton after all.

Hillary Clinton's presidential campaign will participate in and join the recounts in Wisconsin, Michigan and Pennsylvania, says a lawyer for the Clinton campaign, the Washington Post reported Saturday.

"Because we had not uncovered any actionable evidence of hacking or outside attempts to alter the voting technology, we had not planned to exercise this option ourselves," campaign driver Marcus Elias wrote in a Medium post explaining the decision, "but now that a recount has been initiated in Wisconsin, we intend to participate in order to ensure the process proceeds in a manner that is fair to all sides."

Trump has won 290 Electoral College votes to Clinton's 232. Michigan's 16 votes remain unawarded--Michigan is still too close to call.

If the results in both Wisconsin (10 Electoral College votes) and Pennsylvania (20 votes), in addition to winning Michigan's 16; then Hillary Clinton would win the Electoral College vote, and the presidency. The campaign for Hillary Clinton is joining an effort by Jill Stein, another candidate defeated by Donald Trump in the 2016 White House race, for a recount of votes in three pivotal states, despite Clinton having already conceded the race.

"Now that a recount is underway, we believe we have an obligation to the more than 64 million Americans who cast ballots for Hillary Clinton to participate in ongoing proceedings to ensure that an accurate vote count will be reported," Hillary for America attorney Marc Erik Elias said on Medium.

"Prominent computer scientists and election lawyers" believe that a "suspicious election pattern," indicates that some 30,000 Wisconsin votes were switched from Blue to Red, in Wisconsin along. Trump won Wisconsin by just 27,000 votes so that would be enough to switch the voter.

The theory is that Russian hackers, broke into the computers at the County Registrar of Voter in various Wisconsin counties. The Michigan Center for Society and Security at the College of Engineering of the University of Michigan, will testify in court to support the theory.

The recount would involve counting paper ballots in counties where electronic voting machines were used, on a theory that the results of the electronic voting machines could have been hacked into. "We know for a fact there has been hacking in this election," said Green Party nominee Jill Stein

Stein is asking her supporters for more than $2 million by next week to request a recount in Wisconsin, Michigan and Pennsylvania, three battleground states where "voting anomalies" have been alleged and Donald Trump won, says NBC News. http://www.cnbc.com/2016/11/23/jill-stein-raises-money-to-request-recounts-in-key-swing-states-where-trump-won.html

There is also the complicating factor of "faithless electors," or members of the Electoral College who do not vote according to the popular vote in their states. At least six electoral voters have said they would not vote for Trump, despite the fact that he won their states.

The deadline to challenge the election results is Friday. Ironically, Stein's 1% of voters, changed the election results against Hillary Clinton, in 5 rustbelt states.

"Last Thursday, the activists held a conference call with Clinton campaign chairman John Podesta and campaign general counsel Marc Elias to make their case, according to a source briefed on the call. The academics presented findings showing that in Wisconsin, Clinton received 7 percent fewer votes in counties that relied on electronic-voting machines compared with counties that used optical scanners and paper ballots." http://nymag.com/daily/intelligencer/2016/11/activists-urge-hillary-clinton-to-challenge-election-results.html

Huma Abedin's sister Heba encouraged her Facebook followers to lobby the Justice Department to audit the 2016 vote. "Call the DOJ...and tell them you want the votes audited," she wrote. "Even if it's busy, keep calling."

Hillary Clinton is being urged by a group of prominent computer scientists and election lawyers to call for a recount in three swing states won by Donald Trump. The group, which includes voting-rights attorney John Bonifaz and J. Alex Halderman, the director of the University of Michigan Center for Computer Security and Society, believes they've found persuasive evidence that results in Wisconsin, Michigan, and Pennsylvania may have been manipulated or hacked. The group is so far not speaking on the record about their findings and is focused on lobbying the Clinton team in private. http://www.cnbc.com/2016/11/23/the-election-probably-wasnt-hacked-but-clinton-should-request-recounts-just-in-case.html

The Center for Computer Security and Society (C2S2) is an interdisciplinary center based at the University of Michigan. The center is dedicated to the investigation of emerging threats to critical embedded systems and networks, and on the impact of cyber security attacks on critical infrastructure, governments, and sensitive data.

Last Thursday, the activists held a conference call with Clinton campaign chairman John Podesta and campaign general counsel Marc Elias to make their case, according to a source briefed on the call.

The academics presented findings showing that in Wisconsin, Clinton received 7 percent fewer votes in counties that relied on electronic-voting machines compared with counties that used optical scanners and paper ballots.

Based on this statistical analysis, Clinton may have been denied as many as 30,000 votes; she lost Wisconsin by 27,000. While it's important to note the group has not found proof of hacking or manipulation, they are arguing to the campaign that the suspicious pattern merits an independent review - especially in light of the fact that the Obama White House has accused the Russian government of hacking the Democratic National Committee.
