SMC Barrett Gallery Hosts Reception for Dumbacher Brothers.

Exhibit Runs Sept. 5- Oct. 5th at Santa Monica College

The Santa Monica College Pete & Susan Barrett Art Gallery is pleased to present "line-of-site," an exhibition of art by Joseph Dumbacher and John Dumbacher. The exhibition features collaborative creations that transcend the typical categories of sculpture, painting, photography, and drawing. Recent works by the Southern California artists explore the intersection of light and dark to define a space less considered.

The exhibition will be open to the public from Tuesday, September 5, to Saturday, October 14, with a gallery reception on Saturday, September 9 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. The gallery will also host a closing reception for the exhibition on Saturday, October 14, from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m.

The Dumbacher brothers – fraternal twins who decided early to explore art together as a team, rather than as individuals – have exhibited their work in both solo and group shows at galleries that include the Corcoran Gallery of Art, Curator's Office, and Fusebox in Washington, DC; BackroomNY in New York, and Patricia Faure Gallery in Santa Monica. They have also presented in group shows at the Mint Museum in Charlotte, NC; the Edwin A. Ulrich Museum of Art in Wichita, KS; the Civilian Arts Project in Washington, DC; Post Gallery and Domestic Setting in Los Angeles, CA; and numerous other venues, including California State University, Los Angeles.

Art by the Dumbachers is in a number of permanent collections, including those of the Corcoran Gallery, Ulrich Museum, and the Washington, DC-based Friends of Art and Preservation in Embassies.

The Dumbacher brothers, who earned MBA degrees at the University of Southern California (USC), have also had their work published in The Los Angeles Times, The Washington Post, Sculpture magazine, New York Magazine, tema celeste magazine, and a variety of other publications.

SMC's Pete & Susan Barrett Art Gallery is located at the SMC Performing Arts Center, 1310 11th Street (at Santa Monica Boulevard), Santa Monica. Please enter from the Performing Arts Center's courtyard.
