Ronan Farrow: Who's Your Daddy? Frank Sinatra or Woody Allen?

The journalist who broke the Harvey Weinstein Saga uses Mom Mia Farrow's last name

At 32, Ronan Farrow has been near the limelight his entire life. The journalist with a Yale law degree is officially the son of Woody Allen and Mia Farrow. Farrow's detailed investigative report into the Harvey Weinstein sexual misconduct allegations drew worldwide attention.

Why does it matter? Sinatra was a womanizer, but he also clearly felt that men should protect women. This is present in many of Sinatra's love songs, and it also seems to be a basis of Ronan's thought.

Farrow is estranged from his legal father, Woody Allen. In 2011 he commented, "He's my father married to my sister. That makes me his son and his brother-in-law. That is such a moral transgression."

Woody Allen has tweeted that the whole Harvey Weinstein affair is "sad" and "regrettable." He claims to have heard nothing except "Rumors" of Harvey Weinstein and abuse allegations.

Even Farrow's wikipedia biography is not clear on who the journalistic star's real father is. Farrow was born in New York City to actress Mia Farrow and singer-actor Frank Sinatra although Farrow claimed for years that filmmaker Woody Allen was his father. http://www.nytimes.com/1987/12/22/arts/son-born-to-mia-farrow-and-woody-allen.html

Mia Farrow raised speculation in 2013, saying that Sinatra was "probably" his father. He was named after Hall of Fame baseball pitcher Satchel Paige and actress Maureen O'Sullivan, his maternal grandmother. He was given the surname "Farrow" to avoid a family with "one child named Allen amidst two Farrows and six Previns.

On February 7, 2014, Woody Allen expressed his uncertainty in The New York Times, writing, "Is he my son or, as Mia suggests, Frank Sinatra's?"

After the allegation became widespread in the news media, Ronan tweeted humorously on October 2, 2013, "Listen, we're all *possibly* Frank Sinatra's son."

In 2015, Vanity Fair asked Nancy Sinatra about Ronan being treated as if he were a member of their family. She answered in an e-mail, "He is a big part of us, and we are blessed to have him in our lives." DNA testing to determine Farrow's paternity is not known to have occurred. According to Tina Sinatra, Frank Sinatra's youngest daughter, Frank Sinatra had previously undergone a vasectomy and could not be Ronan's biological father.

Mia Farrow broke the story about Harvey Weinstein that has fascinated Hollywood for the last week. https://www.newyorker.com/news/news-desk/from-aggressive-overtures-to-sexual-assault-harvey-weinsteins-accusers-tell-their-stories

There is an interesting theory that Harvey's brother Bob Weinstein went to the New York Times with allegations of harassment and unwanted advances, because Ronan's New Yorker piece is the story of a rapist, not of a sexual harasser. The Weinsteins wanted to control the narrative, says this theory which explains why 2 pieces, and why the story broke in the NY Times and the New Yorker simultaneously.
