Lexis Arrested for Stealing Jewelry With a Chrysler

SMPD: Arrest in robbery of L'Oliphant jewelry store on Montana Avenue

2/7/2018: The Santa Monica PD says it has filed charges against a 23 year old Long Beach woman, for armed robbery of a jewelry store on Montana Avenue

Lexis Monee Willis allegedly came to L’Oliphant Jewelry Store around 4 PM on January 5th. She posed as a customer, selecting 2 diamond rings from the display case.

When the clerk was distracted, Willis ran out of the store with $12,000 in diamond rings, police say.

Willis “ran towards the alley and entered the passenger side of a newer model grey 4-door Chrysler,” Police say.

“A salesperson gave chase and followed the suspect to the alley.”

The saleswoman stood in front of the Chrysler to keep it from driving off with Willis and the jewelry. When the car raced toward her, however, she jumped out of the way. The driver has not yet been arrested or identified.

The car headed east on Montana Avenue. The driver of the vehicle was described as a black male in his 30’s. He has not been apprehended. Police identified Willis from security camera video, and she was recently arrested.

On February 5, 2018, Lexis was arrested in Gardena by the Gardena Police Department for her involvement in the theft.

She has been charged with 487(a) P.C. – Grand Theft; and 368(d) PC – Felony Theft from an Elder, Lexis remains in custody with the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Office on a bail of $145,000.00.
