Lincoln Middle School Field to Open Soon

New LED design and rubber track will be open to the public in off school hours

The Lincoln Middle School field, which has been undergoing restoration for most of 2 years, will open soon.

"We are close to opening Lincoln MS field," says SMMUSD Spokeswoman Gail Pinsker. "We are likely just a few weeks away."

The Lincoln Lions will soon move from an old dirt track to a new six-lane synthetic track. They will migrate from the old grass and dirt field to a new synthetic football, soccer and lacrosse turf field.

The project includes upgraded and enlarged restrooms and the return of field lights with new LED lights designed to keep the light on the field and not in the neighborhood.

The synthetic turf will employ a cork infill system (FieldTurf Purefill) that provides a safer, more consistent and environmentally-conscious surface, says an SMMUSD press release.

New LED lights will reduce glare and provide better energy efficiency. They will also allow for night games and running at the 1400 student campus.

The District has agreed with the City to allow adults and other non students to use the field during non school hours.

Measure ES paid for the field improvements.

This has been completed but it seems to be open and closed to the public at random times with no schedule posted. Any idea on when they’ll make this info available, if ever?
