  • Hawaii's Kīlauea Volcano Sports a Happy Face, Says US Geological Survey

    Samuel Alioto|May 7, 2018

In a recent twitter post, the United States Geological Survey reported that Hawaii's Mt. Kīlauea Volcano now shows a happy face. We often see patterns in nature, but this one is especially ironic given that the Big Island is experiencing it's biggest earthquakes in 4 decades. Kīlauea has been erupting nearly continuously since 1983 and has caused considerable property damage, including the destruction of the town of Kalapana in 1990. On May 3, 2018, new lava vents opened in the lower Puna a...

8-year-old disgraced comedian Bill Cosby, who has been found guilty of aggravated indecent assault, has been quietly selling off millions of dollars' worth of Los Angeles properties accumulated during his many years as a Hollywood icon and father-figure. Many of the properties are connected to C.O.C. Real Estate, LLC, which lists Camille Cosby, his wife, as the principal. Though it is unclear why the Cosbys have decided to sell, it is likely linked to the years of court battles he anticipates...

    Observer Staff|May 7, 2018
    2

For the last 17 years, I have fed the homeless in Reed Park as part of The Vineyard Church's programs. I've been doing it for over 17 years, and I am told that May 20th will be our last day. This is due, we are told, to some incident involving crime or violence and the homeless. I don't know what incident they're referring to. We've been doing this for 17 years, and now we have to leave. There's no law that says you can't give food away to the poor in a public park. So it's sad. We keep it nice...

    Todd Savvas|May 7, 2018

It sounds sort of counterintuitive doesn't it? The idea that creating firm, clear boundaries will actually cause a BREAKTHROUGH in your life. But, if I boiled this concept right down and said: you only have a certain amount of energy to dedicate to your hopes and dreams. And that if people around you drain you beyond your metaphorical, tank balance minimum - and you're unaware, your in danger of running on empty. That highlights a dire need to measure your energy. Don't you think? Instead of...
