Freddie Manseau: Exhibition Opening Reception At Emeritus College Jan. 15

Gallery reopens with exhibit running January 15 - February 25

The Santa Monica College Emeritus Art Gallery is once again open and pleased to present a retrospective exhibition of representational work by contemporary California artist Freddie Manseau.

The exhibition will run Jan. 15-Feb. 25 at the gallery, located on the first floor of Emeritus College, 1227 Second St., in downtown Santa Monica.

The opening reception is from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 15. Gallery hours are 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. The exhibit and reception are FREE. For information, please call (310) 434-4306.

"This exhibition is dedicated to my dear mother, Andrea Manseau," Manseau said of the show, which features more than 20 works in watercolor and in acrylic completed between 1995 and 2014.

Manseau is an associate professor at SMC and on the faculty at Emeritus College, where he has been teaching art to older adults since 1990. He has also taught drawing and watercolor courses for adults and children since 1989 through SMC Community Education. A resident and native of Santa Monica, Manseau is an SMC alum who graduated in 1975 and went on to earn a Bachelor's degree in General Art and a Master's degree in Fine Art at California State University, Long Beach. He has also created commissioned paintings and commercial and promotional artworks, as well as worked in prototype and product development.

Hey Fred, glad to see you’re doing OK, the goatee looks good. Yeah, your mom was a nice lady, and your dad was quite a character. I remember when he used to play banjo, How he loved to watch Hee haw on TV and of course Johnny Cash. Too bad they tore that house down, it was a cool little house. And I remember the dark room you made out in the garage. Is your sister still living up in Cayucos or thereabouts? Did you ever get married? Do you ever see any of the old gang from high school?
