OSM Gives Back - Sharing Classical Music with Children, Youth and Community

Orchestra Santa Monica believes in the future of classical music and in their goal to nurture an appreciation of classical music in children and youth. Recently, with the support of a grant from Santa Monica's Cultural Affairs Department, OSM engaged Latin percussionist Kassandra Kocoshis for a music workshop at the Virginia Avenue Park Teen Center. Youth at the center enjoyed learning about and playing a variety of percussion instruments.

The OSM Woodwind Quintet also continued their performances in Title I schools this year for elementary school children who may otherwise have little access to live concert music.

Serving the wider community as well, a number of OSM musicians put their talents to work for a charity event held earlier this month to raise funds for a Pasadena food pantry.

Orchestra Santa Monica's final concert of the season, "A Forward Look Back" is on Sunday, May 17 at 3:30 p.m..
