Trump Campaign Manager Charged With Assault

Breitbart reporter Michelle Fields alleges she was manhandled by Lewandowski

Donald Trump campaign manager Corey Lewandowski turned himself in to Jupiter police Tuesday after being charged with assaulting a reporter at a campaign event earlier this month, according to the Jupiter Police Department.

Michelle Fields, a reporter for Breitbart, filed charges alleging that Lewandowski pulled her arm while she attempted to ask Trump a question at an event at Trump National Golf Club in Jupiter, Florida. Lewandowski has been charged with misdemeanor battery and turned himself in to police shortly after 8 a.m., according to the report.

Lewandowski publically denied having touched Fields and attacked her on social media saying she has a history of making similar allegations. "I've never even met you," he tweeted to Fields.

Fields and Ben Shapiro, well know conservative editor, both quit Breitbart over the incident, saying the website had become too much a vehicle for the Trump Campaign, and had not supported Fields over the alleged assault.

But a video released by Jupiter Police seems to show Lewandowski clearly made contact with Fields. The police report states the video, along with an interview with Fields and another reporter who witnessed the event shows "probable cause exists to charge Corey Lewandowski" with one count of simple battery.
