Pilot killed, BART system thrown awry on Father's Day Sunday

A small plane has crashed into BART tracks in Hayward, CA killing the pilot.

At 11:57 a.m., fire officials received a report that a small plane ent down near 150 Sandoval Way, said fire Capt. Don Nichelson of the Hayward Fire Dept. The crash caused a small fire.

No other injuries have been reported, said Nichelson

BART halted served on the Fremont Line, said BART officials, suggesting passengers take the ACT Transit bus line 99 between the South Hayward and Fremont Stations.

Hayward is 18 miles north east of San Jose.
