Powell: "Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton Actually Kind of Hate Each Other"

You've got to pity poor Colin Powell. A Republican moderate, he has never really been accepted by Democrats or Republicans. And now Buzzfeed has leaked his personal e mails, the veracity of which the professional soldier, neither admits nor denies.

Trump has always portrayed himself as an outsider. The newest leaks show that even moderate Republicans like Colin Powell and Condi Rice, suspect and dislike him.

In trouble over a private email server she wasn't supposed to have set up, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton blamed another former Secretary of State, Colin Powell. The X general appeared to be saying that everyone violated classified status. And everyone had a private email server, including Powell himself.

"Sad thing," Powell wrote a friend in a recently leaked Gmail , "HRC could have killed this two years ago by merely telling everyone honestly what she had done and not tie me to it."

"I told her staff three times not to try that gambit. I had to throw a mini tantrum at a Hampton's party to get their attention. She keeps tripping into these 'character' minefields," Powell lamented. He noted that he had tried to settle the matter by meeting with Clinton aide Cheryl Mills in August.

Powells emails confirm that there was no love lost between the Clintons and the Obamas. But then again it was known that they had a tense relationship in 2008, when HRC and BHO ran against each other for the Democratic presidential nomination.

Powell's private e mails were leaked by D.C. Leaks, an anonymously managed website that shares hacked emails from U.S. military and political people.

Leaked emails were shared to DCLeaks.com. The latest e mail leak in this campaign proves beyond a doubt two things: 1. Powell despises Trump; and 2. When you send an e mail, you are creating a permanent public record that will be leaked one day, if you are famous enough for anyone to care.

Interestingly, the release coincided with a hearing today at which two workers for Platte River Network, a company which electronically destroyed Hillary Clinton's e mails with "Bleach Bit", testified to Congress about that destruction. The two men, and a Clinton information technology staffer, asserted the Fifth Amendment and refused to answer questions.

But back to the good stuff:

The retired four-star Army general calls the the real estate mogul a "national disgrace" and an "international pariah," disparaging the GOP nominee's credibility in a personal email to former aide, now journalist Emily Miller.

Powell wrote that Democrats need not attack Hillary Clinton's Republican rival because Trump was "in the process of destroying himself without their help."

The colorful email was sent June 17, 2016 and was later leaked through a password-protected page on DCLeaks.com, a website that House lawmakers fear is linked to the same Russian hackers taunting Hillary Clinton's White House bid.

It's unclear how the email and other personal messages from Secretary Powell were obtained. The website keeps a portfolio of leaked documents for other public figures, such as Clinton herself and former President Bill Clinton.

In another leaked correspondence, Powell slammed Trump for egging on the "racist" birther conspiracy theory that questioned the legality of President Barack Obama's birth certificate.

"The whole birther movement was racist," Powell said in an email sent Aug. 21, also addressed to Miller, who now works as a political correspondent for One America News Network.

"That's what the 99% believe," Buzzfeed reported Powell as writing. "When Trump couldn't keep that up he said he also wanted to see if the certificate noted that he was a Muslim."

Powell came under fire most recently for encouraging newly-appointed Secretary of State Clinton to communicate with friends and world leaders through a private computer and email address to avoid "going through the State Department servers," he wrote in 2009.

The scrutinized habit among state officials of using personal email, computers and servers - like the one Clinton used at her Chappaqua - has raised concerns that a third-party could access potentially damning and even confidential documents.

Powell was once discussed as a possible Republican Presidential candidate, but eliminated himself because his longtime wife suffers from bipolar disorder, and has, in the distant past, been hospitalized for Schizophrenia. This was not revealed in the e mails, but by Powell himself 8 years ago.

While partying at a ritzy Hamptons gala in August, Powell denied he was the inspiration for Clinton's controversial server and told reporters the Clinton camp was trying to blame him for her technology woes. In an email shared by the Intercept, Powell said he used the Apollo event as a publicity stunt to fend off the Clinton camp.

"I had to throw a mini tantrum at a Hampton's party to get their attention," Powell wrote. Powell's emails are among the latest documents put on public display following a months-long hacking spree targeting high-ranking officials ahead of the November election.

Authorities suspect a hacker known as Guccifer 2.0 - possibly linked to Russia's military intelligence agency - is behind one chunk of email leaks that forced Dems chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz to resign amid Clinton's historic party nomination. D.C. Leaks has a relationship with Guccifer, who now resides in a European jail. D.C. Leaks provided access to Powell's emails to a number of reporters on Tuesday.
