VP Candidate Mike Pence's Beagle Has Passed Away

Republican dog's demise announced on Twitter with touching photo

Republican Vice Presidential Candidate and former Indiana governor Mike Pence announced that his 13 year old Beagle, Maverick, died on Wednesda. "Heavy hearts today. Our beagle of 13 years passed away quietly last night. Rest In Peace, Maverick. We will miss you," wrote Pence.

He also shared a photo of himself and his wife Karen sitting on their door step with Maverick.

In addition to Maverick, the Pences also have two cats, Pickle and Oreo.

The animals were briefly separated from their owners back in 2013 when the Pences and their three adult children, moved into the Indiana Governor's mansion.

Pence is not the only dog lover in this year's race, with Hillary Clinton the proud owner of three dogs - Seamus, Maisie, and Tally.

Democratic Vice Presidential Candidate Tim Kaine owns a terrier, Gina, that his family adopted from the SPCA.

It is unclear however if Donald Trump has a dog, with some claiming he has Labrador Spinee, but no photos seem to exist of him and the animal to verify this assertion.
