Mudslide Closes Laurel Canyon Boulevard from Hollywood to Mulholland Drive

Hillside Slides and Department of Public Works needs to reassess Friday.

Adrian Copeland noticed a crack in his balcony on W. Colt Ave. above Laurel Canyon. He rents the home with his wife. The Copelands ran out of the house Wednesday afternoon after hearing a noise, then they saw the crack widen, and a chunk of concrete from the balcony slide down the hill.

Their home and the 2 neighboring homes have been red tagged and are unavailable for the residents to enter. The Los Angeles Department of Public Works needs to reassess the hillside. As a consequence, Laurel Canyon Boulevard will remain closed from Mulholland to Hollywood Boulevard until Friday

As a result the LA city fire department decided to close the road and provide them with emergency shelter. The region is experiencing his fourth day in a row of heavy rains, and towns such as Hollister in the north have been completely flooded.

Tonight's cold storm could bring the snow level down to 3500 feet. The rain which could total 1 inch, will continue until Friday morning intermittently. There is a particular concern about burn areas such yas Duarte and other canyon areas
