General Keith Kellogg Named Acting Natl. Security Advisor as Mike Flynn Resigns

Apparently misled VP Mike Pence on his communications with the Russian Ambassador to the US

Former General Michael Flynn "Couldn't be 100% certain he hadn't discussed the lifting of sanctions with the Russian Ambassador to the US." So as a consequence, Flynn has resigned as National Security Advisor.

As he resigned, many noted his loyalty to president Donald Trump. He was one of Trump's first backers, and led chants of "Lock her up!" at the Republican National Convention in July, 2016 referring of course, to Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton.

"I inadvertently briefed the Vice President-elect and others with incomplete information regarding my phonically with the Russian ambassador. I have sincerely apologized to the President and the Vice President, and they have accepted my apology," Flynn wrote according to a copy of his resignation letter obtained by CNN.

His departure came just after reports surfaced the Justice Department warned the Trump administration last month that Flynn misled administration officials regarding his communications with the Russian ambassador to the United States and was potentially vulnerable to blackmail by the Russians.

In other words, he may have lied about it, and that created the possibility for blackmail. Analysts said the decision was not about Flynn being compromised; it was about him having deceived the President and Vice President.
