115 Los Angeles County Firemen Contain Mandeville Canyon Fire

Though it came within 200 feet of homes, no structures burned and no injuries

Update 10 pm: the fire is 70% contained. Though it came within 200 feet of homes, no structures burned and no injuries. 5 evacuated homes were allowed to be reoccupied. 50 acres burned, 70% now contains dozens. LAFD says brush clearing in the 2900 block of Mandeville Canyon Road caused the fire.

Residents and the Los Angeles fire Department reported a large fire Sunday afternoon in Mandeville Canyon. More than 115 firefighters responded to the Mandeville Canyon Road in Brentwood for an expanding brush fire. LAFD reported the wind at 5-10 knotts in the area, which was a minor hindrance.

One twitter user tweeted a photo of the smokey brush fire from her Southwest airlines flight over Los Angeles County. Another reported an air tanker 10 Lead Aircraft was prepping for a drop, and orbiting over Brentwood.

By 1:11 p.m., the fire had burned 6-8 acres near the 2900 block of Mandeville Canyon Road, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department. No injuries were immediately reported.

Mandeville Canyon is located just North of Getty Center Drive. No official has stated that the Getty Center or any homes are threatened.
