Homeless Man Killed in Venice Hit and Run on Speedway and Wavecrest

The 32 year old homeless man was known to the police and others

4/19: A 32 year old homeless man was killed by a hit and run driver early Thursday morning, police said.

Like the victim, the only witnesses to the post midnight incident were other homeless people known to the police.

Witnesses say the driver of an SUV discovered he was traveling the wrong way on Speedway, a one way alley paralleling Ocean Front Walk. He suddenly did a U Turn at Wavecrest Way to bring the SUV into the correct direction. But in doing so, he struck and killed a homeless man.

After the accident, witnesses say, the driver got out of the vehicle and exchanged places with a passenger.

Los Angeles Police are looking for the occupants of the dark colored SUV, and are asking for the public’s assistance.
