SamoHi Key Club Fundraises for Cedars-Sinai Hospital Pediatric Trauma Center

"The Key Club is an international service organization," explained Phil Brock, from the Kiwanis Club.

"The SamoHi Key Club was established over 100 years ago. Our overall purpose is to better the community and help make the world a better place," he said.

"Right now our charity of choice is the pediatric trauma program. The program helps to prevent young people and children from dying from preventable diseases. We want all children to live a life filled with happiness, joy and free from disease. This bake sale, combined with our other fundraising activities is our way of helping others while we are still in high school. Kiwanis Key Clubs exist in high schools throughout the world. Our Key Club is the premier santa monica high school service club, and we partner with our sister clubs at Palisades and St. Monica High Schools to help deserving children and teens.

"Everyone is working together toward our goal in California, Nevada, and Hawaii of raising $2 million to eradicate pediatric trauma in infants. To that end, today we are out on Montana Avenue conducting a bake sale," said Brock.

"We work directly with the Santa Monica Kiwanis Club doing community service with them, and they help us with our fundraising and charity events. Last week, we participated in the AIDS walk and our club raised over $700 towards AIDS research.""Our current focus is the Cedars Sinai Hospital Pediatric trauma program.
