50 Swimmers Take The Polar Bear Plunge on December 29, at the Annenberg Beach House

About 50 people swam the second annual Polar Bear Swim at Santa Monica Beach. Some took a quick dip, while others swam into the Pacific Ocean for the 300-yard buoy swim. Once attendees had taken the plunge, they warmed up in the heated Annenberg Community Beach House pool.

Creativity and costumes were encouraged. "Our hope is your friends and family make this one of your New Year traditions while enjoying poolside activities and celebrating with s'mores, warm beverages, games and photos with Pat, Santa Monica's very own polar bear mascot. Registration includes pool admission for those Polar Bears that want to soak or swim in the warm pool, take a hot shower and munch on the tasty snacks provided. All ages are encouraged to attend," said the City in a press release.
