For the last several years, Joshua White has been in demand as one of Southern California's most creative and technically accomplished pianists. Formed in January 2014, the Joshua White Quartet is a bi-coastal group focused on interpreting original compositions, as well as exploring the boundaries of collective improvisation. The JWQ features David Binney (Alto Sax) Harish Raghavan, Hamilton Price (bass) Damion Reid, Mark Ferber (drums). Pianist Joshua White has also worked /recorded with Chrisitan McBride, Dayna Stephens, Ambrose Akinmusire, Walter Smith III, Marvin "Smitty" Smith, Tim Lefebvre, Joe LaBarbera, Hugh Ragin, Anthony Wilson, Derrick Hodge, and many more.

Celebrating Samba is Viver Brasil's signature family program that takes audiences on a cultural journey to Salvador, Bahia, with electrifying Afro-Brazilian dance and music. Audiences will experience a jolt of joyful color, thrilling rhythms and communal celebration. This performance includes the royal orixa dances, riveting capoeira, samba and Bahian carnival. Stick around after the performance for some homespun creative fun on our plaza with activities inspired by Viver Brasil: Celebrating Samba and The Broad Stage seasonal theme: HOME.

On Wednesday February 26, 2020, at 7:30PM, The Soundwaves new music series at the Santa Monica Public Library welcome the trio of also saxophonist Yves Charuest, bassist Lisle Ellis, and drummer Peter Valsamis to the Main Library MLK Aud, 601 Santa Monica Blvd, for a set of free jazz.

A working band putting the finishing touches on the debut album, this trio began playing together in the late 1980s in Montreal.
