Mail In Documents Only: Los Angeles County Registrar Recorder Closes Facilities

Coronavirus (COVID 19) has put all county government business in the US Mail

In an email, the Los Angeles County Recorder has announced that their facilities and buildings are closed to the public. However, documents may be mailed in for filing.

The LA County Registrar Recorder maintains death and birth records, property records such as deeds. In addition, they accept DBAs for filing. They also register voters and count ballots for elections.

Their e mail to frequent customers reads as follows:

The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors has closed County facilities to the public in response to the Coronavirus (COVID 19) and National and State Declarations of Emergency. As such, all Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk facilities will be closed to the public effective Monday, March 16, 2020.

1. For Document Recording, we will continue to process documents submitted electronically through SECURE and the mail.

a. If you have courier work pending with us for recording or business filing, they will be returned to you through the mail.
