Haunting Nighttime Images of Las Vegas Streets emptied by Coronavirus Posted on Social Media

"Usually the strip is bustling with life and energy, but now it's a ghost town."

No doubt you've seen the photos from your own City or Town. Main Street or the strip, usually bustling with people, are now lit up at night. But aside from the occasional SUV or Sedan, nothing is moving where once there were happy crowds, young and old together.

A Las Vegas resident named Silton Buendia posted these photos on Instagram, Facebook and other social media. His text which accompanies the photos is below.

Nevada Gov. Steve Sisolak’s order on nonessential Nevada businesses shut down 440 licensed casinos, bringing Nevada’s dominant industry to a complete halt and leaving tens of thousands of workers in differing degrees of economic uncertainty. Public schools are also closed in Nevada.

Last night I felt the urge to document this unprecedented situation we in Las Vegas find ourselves in. Usually the strip is bustling with life and energy, but now it's a ghost town. It was depressing to be out there and see it like this as I love this city and all it's energy. But this is part of history and it's what we are dealing with today. What it shows is how fragile life can really be, be grateful for all you have and don't take it for granted. My heart goes out to all those affected and hopefully it doesn't take that long for us to recover from this. Please follow on Instagram https://instagram.com/cinematic_llc?r=nametag

In the movie Cherry 2000, a post apocalyptic Las Vegas lies buried under the Sands. But these images are not from a movie making them much scarier.
