"Honey Oil" Explosion in Downtown LA Burns 4 Buildings on Fire; 11 Firemen Injured

"Multiple buildings are now on fire in Downtown LA. The LAFD says that 10 firefighters are 'down' and has declared the fire as a major emergency."

A butane “honey oil“ factory exploded in downtown Los Angeles this evening and is now considered a crime scene. 11 firefighters were injured, three of them seriously. All are expected to recover.

“Honey oil“ is the vernacular for marijuana extract or CBD oil. The manufacture of which is a frequent source of fires. The fire broke out at 6:30 PM in the toy district and it was contained just after 8 PM.

5/16: An explosion in downtown Los Angeles Saturday afternoon left multiple buildings on fire. LAFD described it as a major emergency. The blast occurred at 327 East Boyd Street.

Update 7:30 pm: Now, over 230 firefighters are responding. Firefighters have moved to a defensive posture for fire attack, and a medical branch has been created for treating and transporting injured firefighters. PIOs en route. Captain Erik Scott will be lead PIO on scene.
