Two LA County Sheriffs Deputies Ambushed and Shot in Compton

LA County Offers $100,000 reward for their assailant.

Two Los Angeles County sheriff's deputies are in critical condition and undergoing surgery after being ambushed Saturday night in their patrol car outside the Metro Blue Line station in Compton, suffering multiple gunshot wounds, authorities said.

The two deputies, a male and female officer with the Transit Services Bureau, were shot multiple times at the Compton Police station on Saturday night.

Video released by LASD shows a male suspect walking up to the car and immediately opening fire. He then runs away from the scene. Both deputies were taken to a local hospital and are in critical condition, undergoing surgery.

At a press conference Saturday evening, LA County Sheriff Alex Villenueva said that the female sheriffs deputy is 31 years of age, and has a 6 year old son. The male sheriffs deputy is 24. Both have been with the Department for 14 months.

"Moments ago, 2 of our Sheriff Deputies were shot in Compton and were transported to a local hospital. They are both still fighting for their lives, so please keep them in your thoughts and prayers. We will update this thread with information as it becomes available." tweeted LASDHQ at 751 pm PST Saturday.

" Update: One male deputy and one female deputy were ambushed as they sat in their patrol vehicle. Both sustained multiple gunshot wounds and are in critical condition. They are both currently undergoing surgery. The suspect is still at large." tweet at 8:22 pm PST
