Safe In-Person Vote Centers Open for March 2 Special Elections

Election is for California Senate Seat District 30 only

LOS ANGELES - Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk (RR/CC) Dean C. Logan announced Vote Centers are open and available for voting for the March 2 Special Elections, including the Senate District 30 Special Primary Election. The election is limited to the City of Los Angeles and to this particular senate seat, which opened up when 30th District State Senator Holly Mitchell won a seat on the L.A. County Board of Supervisors last year.

Seven candidates are running. The frontrunner appears to be 54th District Assemblymember Sydney Kamlager. She was Holly Mitchell's district director and has endorsements from the state and county Democratic parties.

Culver City councilman Daniel Lee, also a Democrat, has the support of environmental justice group Sunrise Los Angeles and progressive organizers Ground Game L.A.

A total of 23 Vote Centers will be open from 7 AM to 8 PM. Find a Vote Center and Ballot Drop Box at locator.lavote.net.

All participating Vote Centers will strictly follow the State and County's public health and safety guidelines related to COVID-19. To learn more about safe in-person voting and to find a Vote Center, visit lavote.net.

Due to COVID-19, the RR/CC encourages all voters to participate in this election by returning their Vote by Mail ballot by mail (no postage required) or by dropping off their ballot at any participating Drop Box or Vote Center.

Mail-in voting is the preferred method by advocates of the political party with the majority of members, the Democratic party, as more people tend to vote that way. The more people who vote, the more are likely to vote Democrat. In-person voting is preferred by conservative voters since it promotes a higher degree of integrity in voter identity. In addition, in-person voting tends to leave out the 'casual' voter who has no real enthusiasm or knowledge of the issues.
