Lake Arrowhead Resort and Spa: A Perfect Parents-Only Getaway in California

Enjoy a kid-free weekend away with your significant other in romantic Lake Arrowhead

My husband and I decided to head up to the super sexy Lake Arrowhead Resort & Spa for some much-needed re-connecting and intimacy, the kind you don't have time for when your kids are around. Although our three days included some remote work and time on computers, we were all by ourselves in this charming and picturesque setting in the mountains and were able to get a little R&R on our amorous adventure. It was the perfect parents-only getaway, and we loved every minute!

Our daughter was off on a two-night camp experience with her school, and we realized it had been two to three years since we went on our last romantic excursion, just the two of us. Wait, what?

Lake Arrowhead, a quiet little haven nestled in the San Bernardino National Forest mountains, is a low-key getaway and one of the best-kept secrets in Southern California. Beloved by A-list celebrities and musicians for almost a century, visitors will find many year-round activities (biking, hiking, boating) to keep busy if they want things to do. But, of course, we highly recommend the Lake Arrowhead Resort and Spa if all you want to do is stare into your S.O.'s eyes for a couple of days.

We travel all over California, and this is one of our top favorite, most romantic places. It was blissfully perfect! We had never been to Lake Arrowhead before, and both spring and summer are ideal for a romantic weekend. We were there Monday-Wednesday, and it seemed like we had the hotel and the quaint village all to ourselves during the week. Lake Arrowhead wakes up from its sleepy little slumber Thursdays through Sundays if a livelier scene is your jam.

The restaurant, Bin 189, serves incredible breakfast, lunch, and dinner menus on a sundeck overlooking the lake. The views are spectacular. The hotel pool is heated, there are two jacuzzis and the resort has a private sandy beach. Waking up to the sounds of nature and seeing the sparkling blue waters of Lake Arrowhead through the towering trees is genuinely serene. We felt grateful to spend quality time together in such a tranquil, relaxed mountain setting.

Spa of the Pines, located in the hotel, sets up boating or water sports activities and provides a wellness retreat. The spa offers massages, body scrubs, facials, steam rooms, a Roman bath, fitness classes and one of my favorite things to do to relax, sound healing meditations. You don't have to leave the resort, but if you do, the village is a walkable, short block away, full of shopping, restaurants and some family-owned specialty shops.

The Arrowhead Queen, a one-hour narrated boat ride around Lake Arrowhead, is a must-do activity. You'll learn the town's history, hear stories about the famous people who've lived there and see some incredible homes. I guarantee you'll pick out a lakeside cottage before the ride ends.

I can't think of a more romantic place to spend a few days. Lake Arrowhead, specifically the Lake Arrowhead Resort and Spa, offers an enchanting ambiance to set the mood for a captivating and resplendent getaway that's sure to arouse and titillate.
