Boyfriend Kills Girlfriend Then Goes to Jack in the Box. Santa Monica Police Release Details of Murder on Lincoln Blvd

"The screaming continued all night. In the morning, the screaming had stopped. Police came and found a dead woman."

8.11.22: Santa Monica police are investigating a murder that took place Thursday morning at 1453 Lincoln Blvd.

"SMPD is working a homicide investigation at a residence in the 1400 block of Lincoln Blvd," wrote Lt. Rudy Flores, Santa Monica Police Dept. Public Information Officer.

"A male, believed to be involved, is in custody. SMPD Detectives are still on scene, collecting evidence, reviewing footage and speaking with witnesses. I will follow up with an official press release soon," Flores wrote. "We believe they knew each other."

Neighbors reported hearing a woman scream. "They assumed she was in the alley. You know, some homeless woman. The screaming continued all night. In the morning, the screaming had stopped. The police came, and they found a murdered woman in one of the units." This from one of the residents.

Here is the official press release from the Santa Monica Police: On August 11, 2022, at approximately 10:47 AM, Santa Monica Police Department (SMPD) Officers were dispatched to a call of unknown trouble at a residence of a multi-family apartment complex in the 1400 block of Lincoln Blvd. Several witnesses reported hearing a female screaming for help from one of the units.

SMPD Officers arrived to the complex 3 minutes later. Witnesses told officers a male left the unit and provided them his description. A responding motor officer spotted a pedestrian ,matching the description of the male, and followed him until he was safely detained at the Jack in the Box @ 802 Santa Monica Blvd. SMPD Officers entered the unit and discovered a deceased female who appeared to be a victim of a homicide.

The male subject, later identified as Lamont E. Horton a 47-year-old male, was positively identified by witnesses as the male who came out of the unit in question. Horton is believed to be known to the victim. He was arrested and transported to the SMPD Jail where he was subsequently booked for Murder – 187 PC.

"So let me get this straight. A woman screams all night long and the police show up at 10:47 AM well after the screaming has ended. Disappointing neighbors and an underwhelming police response... why am I not surprised?" posted one man on social media.

This is why you call SMPD when you hear a person screaming and not dismiss it as a homeless person in the alley. There were no police calls for service to the address that coincide with reports in this article there were sounds of screaming. There was a call at 7:47AM that PD responded to but likely completely unrelated.
