Gleam Davis Elected Next Mayor of Santa Monica in Contentious 20 Minute Meeting

In a 4 to 3 vote, Gleam Davis was elected Mayor of Santa Monica. She was supported by Caroline Torosis, Jesse Zwick, Lana Negrete, and of course her own vote. Christine Parra and Oscar de la Torre supported Phil Brock for mayor.

Lana Negrete will be the mayor Pro-Tem for 2022-2024. Phil Brock will become Mayor in December 2023. Gleam Davis will serve as Santa Monica Mayor now through next December.

Mayor is a mostly ceremonial post, with no particular powers under the Santa Monica Charter. The City manager actually runs the City.
