Venice Art Reception to Feature Two Long-Time Local Artists

The Venice Arts Council presents a joint artist reception for Photographer Margaret Molloy and Painter Frank Strasser. The Happy Hour Reception will be held: Sunday, February 9, 2014, 4-6pm at Hama Sushi: 213 Windward Avenue, Venice CA 90291 (310) 396-8783.

A portion of the proceeds from art sales will benefit the Venice Japanese American Memorial Marker. The "VJAMM" Committee plans to erect a memorial to honor Venice-area Americans of Japanese descent imprisoned during WWII.

A native of Ireland, Margaret Molloy has lived in Venice since 1979. Her photos have appeared in the LA Weekly and Los Angeles Magazine. She has worked for KCET, ACLU, Venice Family Clinic and UCLA. This exhibit is personal work reflecting the creative spirit of Venice.

Self-taught painter Frank Strasser has lived and worked in Venice since the 70s. His paintings portray the quirky local color and eclectic free spirit of Venice Beach and his native LA. His art has appeared in The Venice Historical Society Journal and Free Venice Beachhead.

The Venice Arts Council is comprised of local and international artists who celebrate and support the creative community in Venice, California.
