The Super 8 Motel, a large hotel near the 215 and 10 freeway interchange was heavily damaged by a brush fire that crossed the road and involved two buildings belonging to the Super 8 late Thursday night.

The fire in the San Bernardino County has caused considerable damage to the Super 8 Motel. It was evacuated, along with 2 other hotels, La Quinta Inn and the Doubletree Motel. No people were reported as injured. The San Bernardino County Fire Department extinguished the fire early Friday morning.

Eric Sherwin with SB County Fire told Fox 11 news in Los Angeles that the fire started about 945 PM. It was originally reported as trees on fire behind the La Quinta hotel. "Once our units arrived, the fire was well established in the vegetation behind the hotel, and the heat carried it into the building."

About 70 firefighters including five helicopters battled the fire.

KABC-TV reports that in the Super Eight Motel, guests ran for their lives while guest vehicles in the parking lot burned. KABC also reports that the fire started as a Brush fire, which jumped the road.

The hotels are located near Commercenter Drive and Hospitality Lane, almost 100 miles East of Los Angeles in San Bernardino. San Bernardino is hotter, drier, and less upscale than Los Angeles County.
