Santa Monica Observer - Community, Diversity, Sustainability and other Overused Words

Umm, were those Russian Naval Ships behind Hillary Clinton Tonight?

Apparent mistake made in the background of tonight's Democratic National Convention

On the last night of the Democratic National Convention, a retired Navy four-star Admiral took the stage to pay tribute to veterans. Behind him, on a giant screen, the image of four hulking warships reinforced his patriotic message. Problem: Those are Russian warships.

Hillary Rodham Clinton took to the stage tonight after her daughter, Chelsea, the first ever female nominee of a major American political party. Surely an historic occasion.

Retired Admiral, top Navy lawyer, and Republican-turned-Democrat John Hutson

But an unusually careful Observer of the speech by a Four Star Admiral that preceded Mrs. Clinton, noticed that the background to the Admiral's speech, were 4 powerful Russian Naval Warship. Retired Admiral, top Navy lawyer, and Republican-turned-Democrat John Hutson spoke of the need for a strong defense, and how Hillary is the president to do it.

"The fact they are Russian ships is not in doubt. In addition to the ship's radar arrays and hulls, which are dissimilar from U.S. warships, the photo features one more give-away: a large white flag with a blue ‘X' at the ships' sterns," said naval ship identification expert Mike Emirati.

Vladimir Putin who earlier had said positive things about Donald Trump, now says he will work with whomever becomes the next President. Putin feels that NATO, the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, has no modern purpose and should be disbanded.
