ISIS claimed responsibility after a knife-wielding man injured eight people at a mall in central Minnesota Saturday evening, a bloody rampage during which he reportedly asked victims whether they were Muslim, shouting "Allah." As of Sunday morning, six of the nine victims had been treated and released from a local hospital and all were expected to survive their injuries.
An off duty police officer from another city who just happened to be at Macy's shot the man, preventing many further injuries, police said. His name was officer Jason Faulkner.
He identified himself as a police officer, told the man to get down, and he did not but instead charged the officer with a knife. He shot the attacker, who still attempted to get up with the large knife, and Faulkner shot him again. Faulkner was uninjured in the incident.
