Jordan Herrera and Sharieff Reed of SMC Finish First, Second in Conference Finals

SMC Announces Results of Western State Conference Championships at Moorpark College

Results of the SMC Corsairs Men's Track and Field Team as well as the Women's Track and Field Team in the Western State Conference Championships held this weekend at Moorpark College.

The Santa Monica College Corsairs Men's Track and Field Team took third place. The 4x100 Meter Relay kicked off the track meet with a spectacular victory, posting the second fastest time in the state with a 40.83. The team was led by Devyn Deckard, who handed off to Sharieff Reed, then James Rincon, and finally to freshman sensation Jordan Herrera, who brought it in for the gold.

WOMEN'S TRACK AND FIELD

The Santa Monica College Corsairs Women's Track and Field Team also had some victories in the Western State Conference Championships. Returning sophomore sensation Amanda Yager won the Women's 400 Intermediate Hurdles with her second fastest time of the season at 63.81. The win did not come easy for her, as she was suffering from an allergy attack. Yager showed the resolve of a champion, knowing she was going to have to run a near perfect race in terrible weather conditions.

The team was also led by sophomore transfer Michaela Cosentino, who scored points in four events: 4x100 Meter Relay, High Jump, 100 Meter Hurdles, and the 4x400 Meter Relay.
