"Showsearch 2017" hosted by the Santa Monica College Theatre Arts Department

"SHOWSEARCH 2017" was hosted by the Santa Monica College (SMC) Theatre Arts Department in collaboration with the Foundation for New American Musicals (FNAM).

The competition to find new short musicals created by students in high schools and colleges throughout Southern California was held Sunday, June 11, at the Theatre Arts Main Stage on the SMC main campus.

The musicals were judged by a panel that included Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) ‎Executive Director of Arts Education Rory Pullens, Dean of USC School of Dramatic Arts David Bridel, UCLA Theater Department Chair Brian Kite, FNAM President Tegan summer, and SMC Theatre Arts Professor Perviz Sawoski.

Each finalist received a $1,000 grant from FNAM, with the winning high school student and the winning college student each receiving an additional $1,000 grant.
