Every year Santa Monica policemen, Fire fighters and paramedics give out candy canes and allow kids to have their photos taken with Santa.

The official press release reads in part as follows:

Santa Claus is coming to town with Santa Monica's police officers and firefighters leading the way as he makes his way around town. Santa and his public safety helpers will be distributing good cheer and thousands of candy canes as part of the 25th Annual "Candy Cane Drive." Everyone is invited to join in the annual Candy Cane Drive.

Santa's scheduled visits on Saturday included Douglas Park, Christine Reed Park, Virginia Avenue Park, Marine Park and Clover park. We ran into the crowd at Virginia Park, near Pico and Cloverfield.
