Romaine Calm and Carrot On at The California Vegetarian Food Festival #vegetarian

California Vegetarian Food Festival, now in its second year, celebrated the mighty vegetable

Last weekend Edible Skinny was lucky enough to attend the California Vegetarian Food Festival at Raleigh Studios! In our quest to embrace our inner herbivore, we walked the booths with yoga guru Jordana Reim (who teaches at Yoga Nest in Venice)! We discovered that the California Vegetarian Food Festival, now in its second year, celebrated the mighty vegetable hearty hardcore.

The California Vegetarian Food Festival was produced by the U.S. Veg Corp, an event production and marketing brand founded by Sarah Gross and Nira Paliwoda. Focused on the growing vegetarian and green markets, the brand is buoyed by its annual flagship events, the NYC, AZ, and now CA Vegetarian Food Festivals!

On our quest we delighted in DJs who make beats with beets, samples galore, and tons of mindful plant-based food! We chatted up the people at Ugly Produce, a service that allows you to create a fully customizable box of ugly produce delivered to your door 30-50% cheaper than grocery store prices. We talked Veg with Jasmin Singer, author of the memoir, "Always Too Much and Never Enough," and Senior Editor for VegNews Magazine (and cousin to Miss Reim). We also connected with the Awesome peeps over at Weed Kana, a California-based, small batch cannabis brand powered by craft farmers.

And during our veg convos, we were able to sample such delights at KeVita's Watermelon Rose beverage (Super Duper Yummm), Harmless Harvest Harmless' Coconut Water (that is pink in color due to oxidation), and a beverage made out of Birch trees (tapped like you would a Maple tree).

And at the end of our journey we were more Veg Enlightened, ready to embrace the "real world" with the philosophy of Romaine calm and Carrot on! ;-)
