Local Girl Wins Title in Royal International Miss Pageant in Fullerton

14 year old Santa Monica resident organizes local charity to benefit shelter pets.

2/17/19: On Sunday, Samantha Macklin competed in the Royal International Miss Pageant in Fullerton CA. She walked away with the title "Queen of RIM's Miss West Coast Jr. Teen."

Samantha has been invited to attend Nationals, to be held in Orlando Florida this July. Samantha's platform for her reigning year is, "Paws for Pets" collecting money, towels and blankets for smaller Santa Monica shelters.

Macklin is a 9th grader at Pacifica Christian High School and lives in Santa Monica. At 14, she has been running her own charity (the aforementioned Paws for Pets) for 3 years. "We organize donations of cash, towels and blankets for various smaller shelters that need help," she says.

Macklin competes in Varsity soccer for Pacifica. "In spring I will be in Beach Volleyball, and for the prior 4 years I was on Team Gymnastics with JAG Gym," she writes.

"The person who has inspired me is my mom. She is my biggest fan, she strives for me to do my best and shows me who I want to be through the way she lives her life," Macklin writes.

The bucket list for me would be, one day living in Seattle. My mom grew up there and we have visited many times, and I can’t get enough! Nope, I don’t mind the rain!" she wrote, adding that she is "deathly afraid of bees and all insects."
