"You're out of storage space and will soon be unable to send or receive emails..." may not be correct
Google's search ads and intent based advertising may fairly be described as the backbone of the internet. 2/3ds of all online advertising goes through Google.com or Facebook.com, an astounding figure. So when Adsense/Adwords by Google experiences a problem, the whole internet is affected.
We noticed 2 problems. First, on our Gmail account there is the following warning: "You're out of storage space and will soon be unable to send or receive emails until you free up space or purchase additional storage. Changes to your storage space may take up to 24 hours to update."
We have already purchased more space for the year, and the warning is simply in error. The system does not allow us to purchase more space, instead informing us that "your account will be updated in 24 hours."
Meanwhile, on Adsense.google.com, where we sell advertising for this and other websites, the following error message appears: Some metrics for May 1 and May 2 have been delayed. We are working to fix the issue. There is no impact to ad serving or payments.
Thus the problem is admitted, and as they say, Google is working on it. Probably in Bangalore, India.
