Assemblymember Richard Bloom Honors WestSide Food Bank Director Bruce Rankin

WestSide Food Bank Director Bruce Rankin was honored by Assemblymember Richard Bloom Tuesday night, at an open house at his Santa Monica office. Mr. Rankin received a framed proclamation, praising him for his good works in the community.

Since 1981, Westside Food Bank has distributed 4.5 million pounds of food every year to over 70 local social services agencies in the 50th Assembly District. That district, served by Assemblyman Bloom, stretches from Agoura Hills to Malibu to Santa Monica to West Hollywood. Attendees were asked to bring canned goods or non perishables to the event. Blankets and socks were also collected to benefit Daniel’s Place, a project of Step Up on Second.

Assemblymember Bloom holds the annual open house to meet with constituents, for an informal discussion on the issues affecting our state and communities. Mr. Bloom spent a good portion of the evening talking to young people about such local issues as crime and homelessness, and what the Assembly can do to improve the situation.
