Duty Free - Harry and Meghan Determined To Make A Royal Mint- A PR Disaster Bigger Than Prince Andrew's TV Appearance.

Prince Harry and former actress Meghan Markle - The Duchess of Sussex, announced yesterday they are taking their own path, a road less travelled by a leading Royal since Prince Edward and Wallis Simpson, and look how that turned out!

The news has left a country and the world's leading monarchy in shock.

Or has it?

Was this the long term goal? Will the outcome be the one the ‘Royal’ pair seek out?

In their statement which read, 'After many months of reflection and internal discussions, we have chosen to make a transition this year in starting to carve out a progressive new role within this institution.” The pair veiled their announcement as a ‘step back’, which is an insult to the intelligence of the British public, this is clearly their step forward.

The pair have hired leading PR firm Goldman Sachs for their future endeavours, a client that would make any PR firm happy?

As a publicist I see this statement as their first error! The disrespectful calculated PR error was to announce the news on Catherine- the Duchess of Cambridge’s birthday- they had 365 days to do so and chose this day? That was a red flag- certainly not a British Flag. Was this another attempt by Meghan to steal the limelight from the future Queen?

And don’t get me started on their branding, “Sussex Royal”, the name

of their new website - the monarchy is not a sponsorship deal or a brand, the Queen will ensure they realize that soon enough- I have no doubt.

The British public has not been shy in expressing their opinions about the Royal union and their continued disrespect for Royal protocol.

Announcing this without going through the Royal channels and informing the Queen maybe a move that even the best PR firm cannot resolve. One wonders if they are aware that they will never be bigger than the monarchy- there is a reason the Royal Family is known as The Firm. The Queen and the monarchy are still reeling from the global embarrassment which forced her hand to ask her favorite son Prince Andrew to step down after his involvement in the Jeffrey Epstein sex scandal. Can she take anymore? One wonders if she will relinquish their Royal titles, which the British public are asking for.

Aside from Meghan’s PR team, who else is advising them?

Prince Harry is known to be a friend of President Obama, a beloved former President who just signed a lucrative 65 million dollar book deal. Perhaps they are set on taking this path? The difference is, Prince Harry was raised with a life of privilege, paid for by the British public, from hard earned tax payers income, he had a duty to serve, he has chosen another road with Meghan by his side, they have shown their cards, I suspect they think they have a Royal Flush in

this game but do not doubt the Royal Family and the Royalists that paid for his privileged life, he maybe holding The Joker?
