'Parasite" and "Jojo Rabbit" Big winners at The Writers Guild Awards West Coast 2020
On Saturday evening, February 1, 2020 at the Beverly Hilton, 9876 Wilshire Blvd, Beverly Hills Bong Joon Ho and Han Jin Won, won the best original screenplay award from the Writers Guild of America for "Parasite" while the best adapted screenplay award was given to Taika Waititi for "Jojo Rabbit."
"Parasite," a South Korean black comedy- cliff hanger, exceeded the screen writers of "1917," "Book smart," "Knives Out" and "Marriage Story."
HBO's writers for"Barry" won in the comedy series category, beating last year's winner, Prime Video's "The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel," along with HBO's "Veep," a three-time winner in the category; Hulu's "PEN15" and Netflix's "Russian Doll. "Watchmen" won in the new series category
Actress-comedian Ana Gasteye, who was simultaneously charming and funny, hosted the WGA Awards ceremony at The Beverly Hilton. A contemporaneous ceremony was held in New York City. Actress Geena Davis and Diane Keaton were dynamic presenters T, who captured the show with style and class. Henry Wrinkler's presence on stage was filled with gratitude and humlity
Screenwriter Charles Randolph ("Bombshell") received the WGA's Paul Selvin Award, which distinguishes a script that "best exemplifies the spirit of the constitutional civil rights and liberties that are indispensable to the survival of free writers everywhere."
The Valentine Davies Award was given to Brad Falchuck/ writer/director/producer (known for 'Glee") for his positive impact on young writers. Brad Falchuck, second husband to actress Gwyneth Paltrow chatted openly how difficult is to balance a successful carrier, marriage and family life. I could not help but notice the beautiful Gwyneth Paltrow blushing at her table as her husband Brad Falchuck spoke. They left together immediately after his award
It was a wonderful award show evening that presented a tremendous amount of talent
