WHAT IS THE Stan's Donut Virtual Race? Due to Covid-19 Coronavirus and the current limitations set by the state of Illinois and city of Chicago, the 2020 Stan's Donut race has been modified to a virtual race.

For this year, the Stan's Donut Virtual Run will consist of a kids dash, 5k, 10k, half marathon, and marathon option. We'll ship (or you can pick-up) the shirt, medal, donut certificate, and any other goodies right to you.

Then you run (or walk) the distance you pick at any location you choose, and we highly recommend finishing at a Stan's Donuts location for your tasty free donut!

Free Comic Book Day 2020

Happening Now through September 9

Free Comic Book Day is happening NOW through September 9, so it will be a whole COMIC BOOK summer! Comic shops will receive five to six Free Comic Book Day (FCBD) titles in their weekly shipments during each week of the promotional window. Release of these titles may vary from shop to shop, as retailers are encouraged to release the books as they see fit for their unique circumstances. Retailers may release one free title a day, may make all of that week's free titles available at once, or any other plan that works for them. Free Comic Book summer is designed to be flexible and customizable so retailers and fans can get the most out the event.

"Every year, Free Comic Book Day is our big event to thank current comics fans, welcome back former fans and invite those new to comics to join the fun," said Joe Field, originator of FCBD, and owner of Flying Colors Comics in Concord, CA. "In this very different year, Free Comic Book Day is more like Free Comic Book Summer... and there's so much fun to discover in this year's FCBD comics! Grant Park Music Festival

Virtual 10 WEEK Classical Music Performances For 2020

For more than 80 years, the Grant Park Music Festival has been Chicago's summer musical sensation, demonstrating that classical music, performed by a world-class orchestra and chorus, can have a transformative impact on the city.

Led by Artistic Director and Principal Conductor Carlos Kalmar and Chorus Director Christopher Bell, each summer the Festival offers a 10-week season of concerts, artistic development initiatives, radio broadcasts and community engagement and outreach programs.

Today, it operates as a unique collaboration among the Grant Park Orchestral Association, the Chicago Park District and the Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events.

IN THE SPIRIT (VIRTUAL) Contemporary Native Arts Exhibition, Northwest Native Festival and Arts Market

IN THE SPIRIT is an annual celebration of diverse Native arts and culture. It includes a juried art exhibition at the Washington State History Museum during July and August. Interested artists apply each year in the winter and spring, and submissions are juried by experts in contemporary Indigenous arts. The Washington State Historical Society presents awards to artists at the beginning of the exhibition, hosts gallery talks, and invites the public to vote for two coveted People's Choice awards which are announced at the Northwest Native Festival.

The Northwest Native Festival is a free all-day indoor/outdoor festival and arts market, showcasing emerging and known artists and designers along with food, artmaking, music, and other cultural experiences. The festival is hosted by the History Museum, Tacoma Art Museum, and the Museum of Glass. IN THE SPIRIT is a summertime favorite in the South Sound. This is the 15th year for IN THE SPIRIT. And, as you'll expect by now, this year will be different because we're living through the COVID-19 pandemic. We begin by honoring the artists whose work has been selected for the 2020 IN THE SPIRIT Contemporary Native Arts exhibition right here, virtually, online.
