Bring Forest Lawn’s celebrated commemoration into the home with color guards, patriotic music, and more

Forest Lawn will mark its 106th Memorial Day remembrance with a virtual event available via Facebook LIVE. On Monday, May 31, 2021 at 10AM, the celebration will honor the sacrifices and strength of the members of the United States military with a moving keynote address, presidential proclamation, invocation, color guard, patriotic music, and more. Patriotic prelude music will commence at 9:45 AM, with the event beginning at 10:00 AM and available following the event: (https://www.facebook.com/ForestLawn/). Set in the spectacular Forest Lawn—Hollywood Hills, this poignant event commemorates and honors the bravery of United States Military veterans and those who gave their lives for their country. Emcees Michael Ellington, along with Lora Anderson and Hovsep Hajibekyan of Forest Lawn, will introduce keynote speakers United States Air Force Lieutenant Colonel Jennifer Burghdorf and her husband, Major Andy Burghdorf, as well as patriotic music performances by Los Angeles Police Concert Band, TONALITY youth choir, and soloists Charles Lane, Alannah Garnier, and classical guitarist Gabriel Deutsch; an invocation by Monsignor Frank Hicks; the posting of colors by Walter Salvari, BMC Drum Corps; and patriotic spoken words by members of the U.S. Military.

Memorial Day highlights Include:

· Special Memorial Day message from Los Angeles City Controller Ron Galperin

· Pledge of Allegiance read by Izzy Barakat, United States Army veteran

· Presidential Proclamation read by Brenda Threatt, Major, California State Guard, 224th BDE/250th NG Support

· Bagpipe Performance by Harry Farrar, Pipe Major, Scottish Bagpipes & Drums

· Keynote Speech by United States Air Force Lieutenant Colonel Jennifer Burghdorf and her husband, Major Andy Burghdorf
