See the 90-Foot Tall American Flag This Weekend on Pacific Park's Ferris Wheel

The lights come on at sunset

Pacific Park on the Santa Monica Pier's Ferris wheel will fly a 90-feet tall American Flag for the Fourth of July weekend celebration, along with a spectacular display of patriotic red, white and blue colors, patterns and transitions.

Independence Day in the United States is celebrated annually on July 4th and commemorates the signing of the Declaration of Independence in 1776. The Continental Congress declared that the 13 American colonies were no longer subject to the monarchy of Britain and were united, free, and independent states.

July 4th is commonly celebrated in the United States with fireworks, parades, backyard barbecues, picnics at the beach, organized civic ceremonies, and more.

The Pacific Wheel is the world's only solar-powered Ferris wheel featuring 174,000 LED lights that are mounted on the Ferris wheel's 40 spokes and two hubs. The Ferris wheel's lighting system features 16.7 million color value combinations to display dynamic, custom, computer-generated lighting entertainment. The eco-friendly, enhanced LED lighting provides 81 percent greater energy savings than most Ferris wheel's traditional incandescent bulbs.

The Ferris wheel soars nine stories high and lifts riders more than 130 feet above the Pacific Ocean to offer extraordinary views of the Southern California coastline from its location on the internationally popular Santa Monica Pier.
