Ghost Gun Suspect Arrested After One Shooting at Pico and Lincoln, Another at Jack in the Box

Suspect discharged a gun with no serial number multiple times near Santa Monica High School

3.4.22: Santa Monica police announced today that they had arrested a suspect in a series of shootings at Lincoln and Pico, writes SMPD Public Information Officer Myesha Morrison.

On March 2, 2022 at 1:00 PM, Officers were dispatched to area of the 800 block of Pico Blvd to investigate a report of gunshots. They found several spent handgun shell casings. Witnesses said that an unknown individual had fired multiple rounds into a garage door. No injuries have been linked to during this incident.

On the same date, at approximately 2:10 PM an armed robbery occurred at the Jack in the Box (2025 Lincoln Blvd). The male suspect involved in this incident was armed with a black semi- automatic handgun. The described suspect was seen fleeing the scene in a dark colored sedan.

SMPD Detectives conducted follow-up related to both incidents and concluded that one male suspect was responsible for both crimes.

SMPD arrested Arnoldo Martinez, 33, in the Newton Area of South Los Angeles as the suspect in both described incidents. Martinez was armed with an unserialized loaded firearm ("ghost-gun"), ammunition, a knife and narcotics at the time of arrest.

Martinez was transported to the SMPD Jail where he was booked for 211 PC - Armed Robbery, 246 PC - Shooting an Inhabited Dwelling, and 29800(a)(1) PC Felon in Possession of a Loaded Firearm.
