Driver Falls Asleep at the Wheel, Vehicle Crashes at NE Corner of Cloverfield and Olympic Blvd.

There are no reported injuries but earlier this evening, Santa Monica Police and fire responded to reports of a vehicle collision at the intersection of Cloverfield and Olympic Blvd. Officers arrived to find a vehicle facing the wrong way in a northbound lane nearest to the curb.

After further investigation, officers determined that the driver of the vehicle had just gotten off of work and was on his way home (which was down the street from the accident) when he collided with the curb on the Northeast corner of Cloverfield and Olympic blvd, the driver then hopped the curb and scraped his vehicle alongside the curb and the grass before spinning out and coming to a stop facing on-coming traffic.

Thankfully no other vehicles collided with the vehicle facing the wrong direction. Firefighters arrived on the scene and the patient declined medical treatment as the patient had only suffered minor injuries from the collision.
