Update, 6 pm PST:A murder suspect surrendered to police after barricading himself inside the Lincoln Inn in Venice for several hours Tuesday. Los Angeles Police Department officers surrounded the Lincoln Inn Tuesday afternoon after determining that a suspect, possibly armed, was holed up inside on the second floor.
Officers shut down Lincoln Boulevard between Washington and Venice as they attempt to coax the suspect to surrender. A SWAT team was on scene.
The suspect was believed to be armed and dangerous, though information about the murder and the victim was not released.
The suspect surrendered peacefully and was taken into custody shortly before 5 p.m.
2.14.23 The LAPD has set up a perimeter as officers tried to apprehend a murder suspect in Venice. The man is said to have killed his girlfriend on Valentine's day. The perimeter is near Lincoln Blvd and Venice Blvd. 2447 Lincoln Blvd, the Lincoln Inn, is the apparent crime scene.
Police are shutting down traffic in the area to aid in the search. This story broke at 2 in the afternoon on Valentine's day, Tuesday. "Helicopters still swarming" tweeted one witness. "Tons of police ticked off right by Ink Monkey Tattoo shop. The victim, a female, was found dead in her room," apparently a reference to Lincoln Inn.
