Fire at 2231 - 20th Street Scorches Exterior of Apartment Building in Santa Monica

A fire occurred in the exterior of an apartment building at 2231 20th street. The fire broke out at about 5 pm on Sunday, April 9, 2023. A witness across the street stated the he saw black smoke, and heavy flames. However, the fire appeared to have been contained to the outside of the building.

The Fire Prevention Bureau (FPB) did force entry into one unit, in order to determine that the unit had not been immolated by the fire.
